Machine learning is a very popular form of AI (artificial intelligence) that has created incredible new possibilities, but how does it actually work? How is it that a computer can figure out which movies you'll want to watch next on Netflix, learn how to control a self-driving car on a twisting dirt path, and create a picture of your face that no one ever actually took? And what does it mean that computers are able to do that?
At this session, we'll first discuss some of the basic principles that make machine learning possible, to turn it from story to science. We'll then look at machine learning in action, and we'll finish off with a brief discussion of what we need to consider moving forward. By the end of the session, you'll have a much better understanding of how this "magical" technology actually works!
No experience is required to join this session. If it sounds interesting, come and watch!
